When I was younger I remember always being fascinated by the benefits of drinking sparkling water. As a matter of fact, every time I would run out of running water in the emergency room at the hospital I would go and get a large jug of this cool stuff. Now granted, the medical profession has now advanced to such an extent where you can purchase carbonated mineral waters at your convenience. But what is still interesting about the benefits of drinking sparkling water is its ability to detoxify the system.
Now one thing I have realized over the years is that in order to be healthy you need to make sure that your body is as healthy as possible. Now you probably don’t want to spend money on bottled water because you know that it is full of chemicals that are harming the ecosystem and the water itself. You also want to get the most benefits of drinking sparkling water throughout the day because you never know when you may suffer from water-borne diseases. You may be a senior citizen who needs to drink plain water throughout the day or maybe you just want to try to improve your health and stay away from the high sugar content that is found in many sodas that we find out more often than not are really high in calories. Whatever the reason is, it is important that we are aware of the benefits of drinking sparkling water throughout the day so that we can try to keep our weight down and improve our health as we age.
One study actually showed that if a person drank moderately sized glass of sparkling water for three times per day they would actually shed some weight. Now it is hard to say whether this was due to the actual consumption of the soda or if there was an increase in insulin resistance because the subjects consumed a significantly larger amount of sugar than the norm. However, the consumption of sugar is a major contributor to obesity and should be controlled. Now one thing that I would like to mention about this study is that in order to control the amount of sugar a person consumes, most people actually have to reduce their whole meal intake rather than reducing the consumption of soda alone. This may work in theory but it is not easy in reality because many times a person will eat a large portion of food because they are bored or because they are waiting for the soda to cool off.
